Dr Martha Ferrito

Chartered Psychologist | EMDR Consultant | BABCP-Accredited CBT Supervisor | Trainer | Practice Director

Warm, reflective and clinically robust supervision and training for therapists working with trauma and complexity.

My work is grounded in the belief that therapists and helping professionals need spaces where they can think deeply, feel supported, be appropriately challenged, and remain connected to themselves in the work they hold.

I bring a relational, trauma-informed and integrative approach to supervision and training. My style is warm, thoughtful and collaborative, while also offering clear clinical thinking, ethical reflection and attention to complexity.

Whether I am supervising, training or consulting, I aim to create spaces that feel safe enough for honesty, reflective enough for learning, and robust enough to support high-quality clinical practice.

How I Work

I pay close attention not only to the clinical material being discussed, but also to the therapist’s experience of holding that work.

This means making space for formulation, treatment planning and clinical decision-making, while also noticing the therapist’s confidence, emotional responses, professional identity, boundaries and capacity to remain present with complexity.

My work is shaped by EMDR, CBT, trauma-informed practice, forensic experience, attachment theory, parts-informed thinking and reflective practice. I am particularly interested in helping therapists feel more anchored, attuned and clinically clear when working with trauma, risk, shame, dissociation, emotional intensity and complex presentations.

A Relational and Reflective Approach

I see supervision and training as more than the transfer of knowledge. They are spaces where therapists can develop confidence, deepen their thinking, and strengthen the way they use themselves within clinical work.

My approach is compassionate and non-shaming. I aim to offer a balance of support and challenge, helping clinicians feel understood while also encouraging growth, curiosity and ethical reflection.

I value warmth, clarity, honesty, humility and professional integrity. I believe clinicians learn best in environments where they feel respected, engaged and able to reflect openly.

Supervision

I offer individual and group supervision for therapists seeking support with EMDR, CBT, trauma-focused work, complex clinical presentations, risk, dissociation, therapist blocks and reflective practice.

Further information about supervision is available in the Supervision page.

Training

I provide training and CPD for therapists, supervisors, clinical teams and organisations interested in trauma-informed practice, EMDR-informed thinking, CBT, therapist resourcing, reflective practice and sustainable professional presence.

Further information about training is available in the Training page.

The C.A.R.E.S. Model™

I am the developer of the C.A.R.E.S. Model™, a therapist-resourcing framework designed to support clinicians in demanding relational work.

The model reflects a central thread in my work: that clinicians need to be supported not only in what they do, but in how they remain present, grounded and professionally resourced while doing it.
