Psychological Supervision
Clinical Supervision for Therapists
High-quality clinical practice requires regular supervision. Supervision helps clinicians work within their areas of competency and encourages professional development.
Martha has extensive experience providing supervision in CBT, third-wave therapies, and EMDR. She has significantly contributed to the growth of both trainees and qualified therapists.
- Flexible Sessions: Supervision can be held face-to-face or online (e.g., via Skype), or a combination of both. Sessions can be arranged weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, and can last for one hour or 1.5 hours to suit the supervisee’s needs.
- Group Supervision: Martha currently leads several group supervision sessions for both trainees and qualified therapists. Group supervision allows clinicians to share experiences in a supportive and encouraging environment, build skills, and gain valuable input from peers. It helps reduce feelings of isolation in practice.
Martha supports clinicians at different stages of their development, providing assistance with coursework and therapy recordings. She frequently uses the Cognitive Therapy Rating Scale – Revised to help improve therapeutic skills when needed or requested.
Research and Academic Supervision
Martha holds a PhD and specializes in qualitative methodology, including Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), Thematic Analysis, and Narrative Analysis. Her research focuses on trauma and resilience, as well as the role of life events in personal change.
Supervision services are available for undergraduate, Masters, or PhD level work, including support with dissertation proposals, dissertations, and coursework.
Professional Support for Mental Health Professionals and Employee Assistance Programme
Martha also provides professional support through staff support and reflective practice sessions, either one-on-one or in groups. These sessions aim to:
- Reflect on work practices
- Develop strategies to manage workplace stress
- Address pressures associated with complex and sensitive work
- Explore personal responses to traumatic incidents, such as moral injury related to COVID-19
- Reflect on best practices

"Martha is versatile and flexible in her approach to supervision. She supervised me when I was a trainee and continues to do so now that I am a certified CBT therapist. Patryk Z, Fully Accredited CBT Therapist (Private Practice)
"Martha was the best supervisor for managing my anxieties without being judgmental. She always brings new ideas, and I am constantly learning. She ensures clients are treated as individuals and focuses on the therapeutic relationship. I highly recommend Martha as a supervisor."
Anonymous, Qualified Nurse Therapist (Forensic Services, using EMDR)
"Martha has been integral to my development as a CBT therapist, providing honest and constructive feedback. Initially, I struggled to deliver therapy effectively, but Martha helped me understand protocols and ensure I covered everything needed for a full treatment program. She never 'told me what to do,' instead, she allowed me to express my thoughts and then offered her ideas. We always made collaborative plans to move forward."
Holli Mcmenamin, CBT Therapist (Trauma Service for Young Boys)
"Martha is approachable, supportive, and reliable. She assists me in case conceptualization and developing treatment plans and goals. Martha provides both positive feedback and constructive criticism. She tailors supervision sessions to my needs and gives literature to read for professional development."
Rae Thomson, CBT Therapist (Prison)

"Martha has been my supervisor for about 3 years and her commitment to my personal development has been amazing. I have consolidated my practice and developed skills that benefit my clients. She creates a safe space for supervision, where I can ask anything without fear of judgment. We always have a bit of a laugh, making the process enjoyable.
